Professional Expertise

Gary Helminski is responsible for the firm’s Project and Development Services Group (PDS).  DTZs PDS Group leads a collaborative process to analyze, plan and execute successful real estate and construction solutions for our clients in an “owner’s representative” capacity. The group focuses on the entire real estate value chain from due diligence, economic analysis, feasibility, conceptual planning, entitlements and development/project management. As project managers, the group has a simple mission: to produce the required facility—at a specified price, at a specified time, efficiently and without legal conflict.

Mr. Helminski was formerly a Managing Director with Jones Lang LaSalle overseeing development and project management services in the Mid-Atlantic region. Prior to joining Jones Lang LaSalle, he was a partner in the real estate practice of Arthur Andersen, where he led the Development Advisory Services practice nationally. He has been a featured speaker at many industry conferences including the Urban Land Institute, the American Institute of Architects and CoreNet Global. His articles have been published in a variety of business and trade journals and widely quoted in the press including the Washington Post, the Washington Business Journal and the Wall Street Journal.

Gary’s technical expertise includes planning, design, construction and financial feasibility analysis; land assemblage; underwriting packages; purchase and lease agreements; entitlements; contracts, construction management, and occupancy analysis. His product type experience includes office, residential, hospitality, health care, industrial, mixed-use and retail product sectors. He has worked extensively with the private and public sector including federal, state and local government agencies.
