MINNEAPOLIS – Cassidy Turley, a leading commercial real estate services provider in the U.S., announced today that the City of Champlin, a suburb of Minneapolis, has awarded Senior Vice President Jim McCaffrey, CCIM, SIOR, and Associate Vice President Julie Lux, CCIM, the listing assignment for the Mississippi Crossings mixed-use redevelopment.
The 60-acre site, which offers panoramic views of the Twin Cities region, straddles Highway 169 and is located at the convergence of the Mississippi and Rum rivers, across from the historic town of Anoka, MN. The City of Champlin has invested more than $15 million to acquire several parcels of land for the development and make infrastructure improvements. The redevelopment calls for 450 new rooftops and 185,000 square feet of new commercial space and expanded open space along the riverfront.
Mr. McCaffrey and Ms. Lux, who are based in Cassidy Turley’s Minneapolis office, will initially market 10 acres of the land to multi-family and retail or mixed-use developers.
“We are delighted to be working with the City of Champlin on this exciting redevelopment,” said Ms. Lux. “Our goal is to negotiate a deal with a developer that would begin construction this fall or in the spring of 2015.”
As Master Developer, the City’s efforts to rejuvenate the riverfront will capitalize on the popularity of the nearby six-mile Mississippi River recreational pool. The concept calls for a two-story restaurant/event center, a village green with river dockage, an upscale market-rate apartment community and accompanying retail. The redevelopment will reflect Mississippi Crossings history as a landing for migrating steamboats in the mid-1800s.
