NEW YORK, March 15, 2010 – Cassidy Turley, one of the largest commercial real estate service firms in the U.S., announced today that Writers Guild of America, East signed a fifteen year lease covering roughly 16,000 square feet on a portion of the 7th floor at 250 Hudson Street.
The Writers Guild plans to relocate its headquarters from 555 West 57th Street to 250 Hudson Street in the spring of 2010. Writers Guild of America, East, AFL-CIO (WGAE) is a labor union representing writers of motion pictures, television, cable, digital media and broadcast news. WGAE negotiates certain collective bargaining agreements with Writers Guild of America, West. Together the guilds administer the Writers Guild of America Awards and are affiliates of International Federation of Journalists and International Affiliation of Writers Guilds.
“WGAE’s decision to relocate its offices to 250 Hudson is consistent with the organization’s efforts to reestablish its image,” said David L. Hoffman, Jr., Executive Managing Director/Principal at Cassidy Turley who represented WGAE in the lease transaction. “After twenty years at 555 West 57th Street, WGAE required more functional office space in a more easily accessible location. 250 Hudson Street provided a perfect combination of reliable, creditworthy ownership, a beautiful recent renovation of the entire building and proximity to other Hudson Square media related companies.
Also representing WGAE from Cassidy Turley were David Lebenstein, Director of Not For Profit Specialty Practice Group and Wendy Miller, Managing Director.
“We invested a great deal of time and effort thinking through WGAE’s needs. We are delighted we found a space that will be open and inviting to members and staff alike,” said Lowell Peterson, Executive Director of WGAE.
The building’s owner, Jack Resnick & Sons, was represented in house by Dennis Brady and Jonathan Dean.
