Cassidy Turley Announces TOBY and Grand TOBY Awards for 500 New Jersey Avenue, NW in Washington, DC

Published on June 14, 2010

Washington, DC – Cassidy Turley announced today that 500 New Jersey Avenue, NW has been awarded The Office Building of the Year (TOBY) Award by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA).  The property earned top honors in the Under 100,000 Square Foot category for metropolitan Washington, DC. In addition, 500 New Jersey Avenue received the Grand TOBY Award, which is chosen from all category winners and recognizes the best of the best. BOMA International’s TOBY Awards program is the most distinguished awards program of its kind in the commercial real estate industry, recognizing and rewarding excellence in office building management.

Cassidy Turley Director of Property Management, Benjamin A. Comm, CPM commented, "I'm very proud of our team for the effort they have put forth in winning this prestigious award." Mr. Comm added, "We strive to incorporate the industry's best practices into our operating plan for all properties, while fostering professionalism, teamwork and professional growth. This award is yet another testimonial to our commitment to excellence in property management." Cassidy Turley’s winning property management team includes:  Brad Clark, Property Manager; Mike Reilly, Lead Engineer; Crystal Price, Property Assistant; and Jose Umanzor, Maintenance Porter.

Now in its 26th year, the TOBY Award competition consists of three levels of judging.  Local BOMA Associations hold the first level of competition.  Winning entrants then advance to the regional level, and finally, regional winners advance to the international level.  International winners are recognized at BOMA International’s Annual Convention in June each year.

Judging in the competition is based on a thorough evaluation during the on-site building inspection and on-line portfolio judging.  These include areas such as tenant relations programs, community involvement, emergency evacuation procedures, ADA provisions, preventative maintenance schedules, security issues, policy and procedures manuals and continuing education for building personnel.

500 New Jersey Avenue—a 98,000 square foot, 12-story office building—is the home of the National Association of Realtors’ Washington, DC-based staff.  State-of-the-art offices, meeting and event space, and a garden roof deck with sweeping views to the Capitol dome support their high-profile functions.  The building’s innovative design, environmental sensitivity, and advanced information technology set it apart from the many association and government facilities in the city.
